Eddie
Eddie is a 1983 Chevy Camaro that was purchased as a roller (no engine or transmission) with the intent of building a dedicated drag car.
Third gen Camaros have notoriously difficult rear suspension setups for drag racing so there will be many fun fabrication Endeavors in his future to correct this problem. Oh yeah, and he’ll probably need an engine too. Here’s the plan (subject to change as we go):
-
Near term:
• Stock bottom end 5.3
• Ring gap
• Cam/springs
• Twin GT35s (knock-offs)
• Custom fabricated turbo kit
• Supporting mods
• More to come
-
• TH400
• Manual valve body
• Transbrake & strip-ready outfit
-
• Fabricated 4-link
• Built 8.8” with spool
• Double adjustable shocks
-
• Double adjustable shocks
• Rack and pinion steering swap
• Custom fabricated K-member/control arms?
-
• Gutted interior
• 8.50 cert cage
• Built Bottom End Performance Vinyl livery
The plan:
The Built Bottom End Performance horsepower calculator was used to estimate wheel horsepower goals to meet our 1/4 mile time goal. Calculate your build’s horsepower below!
Does your oil pump suck? (it should)
Utilizes both fastener holes available on the oil pump, where stock only uses one
Vibration and high-stress applications can cause premature o-ring failure or pickup tube to come loose, causing the engine to lose oil prime or loss of oil pressure
Billet aluminum girdle reinforces the flimsy stock hold-down tab
Prevent damage to crankshaft journals, cam bearings, collapsed lifters, and total engine failure
